1st Press Travel

24 janvier 2014

That’s it!!! We plunged into the big bath … 1st Press Travel Ogier de Gourgue: DONE!

Wednesday 22 and Thursday 23 January we had the opportunity and the chance to welcome in our property a nice floor of journalists from all over France.

Organized in collaboration with Michèle PIRON SOULAT from Vinconnexion, Sophie ROUSSOV from NOUV’LR and our 3 oenologists Julien BELLE, Thomas DUCLOS and Stéphane TOUTOUNDJI from Labo Oenoteam, the 16 winemakers In a Bottle (www.inabottle.fr) participated in 1st press trip of the club.

The idea: to discover our little jewels of vineyards.

Ogier de Gourgue AOC Côtes de Bordeaux BIO Presse dégustation millésime press travel

The madness program and festivities are launched. 2 intense days of visits, cooking classes, tastings all more original than others, good meals from Bordeaux … we enjoy and savor these moments and these exciting encounters.

And then, Thursday afternoon, 15:30, it’s our turn, let’s go, not even afraid …
12 journalists on the property … it’s just amazing!

An arrival at the property under the rain will not undermine our motivation to present, to discover our area and explain the evolution since February 2010.

The rain will bring us to the tasting room and taste our vintages, 2009, 2010 (our first vintage), 2011 and 2012 assembled the same morning because still undergoing vinification … all accompanied by some sweet: MIAM! A nice vertical tasting.

17h: Time flys and it is already time to return to the capital for some … end of the visit.

In short, a pleasant moment to reiterate quickly …

Pressing 2013

06 novembre 2013

The end of the fermentation has arrived. In order to recover the press juice, the marc has come out of the vats.

Once harvested, the marc is passed through a hydraulic press to recover the remaining wine: the wine press

Once pressed and given the last drop, the marc is returned to nature and the tanks are cleaned.

Finally, the wine of gout is separated from the press wine for the barrel setting.

Harvest 2013

07 octobre 2013

Ouf!!!

We expected to finish with a torticollis by scrutinizing the sky and the sun every day, in the hope that, for once in the year, the weather is lenient to let the grapes ripen a little and limit the rotting. However, time has not decided that way. More fear than harm … no torticolis in sight but a decision to make quickly: the date of the harvest.

After 2 intensive days of preparation, Wednesday 2 October, launch of the 2013 harvest.

7:45 am: arrival of a team of 30 pickers.

We have been hearing for a few months now “the quality of the grapes is the last unknown of this catastrophic year, and in terms of quantity, everyone agrees: the harvest will be frugal.*”

Certainly the readings in the newspapers “low quantities and uncertain quality, the year 2013 may be the worst since 1984” do not help us to remain positive. Yes, but here, at château Ogier de Gourgue, we hope. As long as the harvest is not in the tank, let’s continue to believe it.

2/10/2013, 8h: Brief teams, everyone is working on his task (cup, porter, winery, stewardship … there is for everyone).

6/10/2013, after 4 days of harvest and a relatively indulgent weather, the 2013 harvest is in vats. There’s just…

It is certain that the quantity is not at the rendez-vous but we will do everything so that the quality is there! We will of course keep you informed of the progress of winemaking.

See you soon.
